The sun shone and shone
the heat was a bummer
so we stayed in the house
all that hot sticky summer
.
I stayed there with children
we stayed there, we three
and tried to stay cool
as we could possibly be
.
They played many board games
and tormented the rabbit
I read lots of magazines
as is my habit
.
Then, in August Vogue
a striped top, so arty
I checked the designer
Stella McCartney
.
I found some blue and tan
from a Micheals Fabrics bundle
And off-black from my tulle stash
which is starting to dwindle
.
I added the tulle stripes
for transparency’s sake
low down on the skirt
nice contrast it does make
.
jaimemoncarre.com
is great for time to waste
it made me think of the scarf
to put around the waist
.
I took an old necklace
and added tulle and a bow
In this pic you can see
my stripes in a row
.
to show the seam finish
here’s a view of the interior
the chrysanthamum lining
looks quite superior
.
It’s cute and it’s swirly
it’s really the best
I’ll wear it this fall
my Dr Suess Dress.

You’ve posted some pics
along with a rhyme
To give us a fix
in this hot sticky clime
The weather is hard
But A/C is good
stay out of the yard
and get in the mood
The mood for art
and fashion
and clothes
We like them
You make them
And now I will doze….
What a treat to see
what a treat to read
how did you do this
marvelous deed?
We don’t have to ask
we already know
you’ve given your all
to the talent to sew
your children must believe
and they surely can see
that their Mom is creative
the Best Mom that could be
Bless you Claudia, this is so precious 🙂 and makes me glad that you blog!
I am SO not a poet, and we all know it.
I just love this dress, I hope not to obsess.
Well, I won’t try to rhyme,
I haven’t the time,
but the dress is creative
and so very devine!!
Divine, divine,
both the dress and the rhyme.
Thank you Claudine.
I will send my address and you can pop this little beauty in the mail to me.
My colors too.
Back from London, with only 1 meter of Liberty fabric. Thank you for your information, but I really was too good.
So now I don’t feel so bad, because I know this dress is coming to my house.
Exquisite dress!
You sew like a pro
This we all know
Your dress is inspiring
But that’s not surprising
That’s all I can say
You’ve brightened my day
Now I think I will go
To my studio and sew!!
Ouch! i know that’s awful but you get the message. I love, love, love the dress.
LOL. A poet I’m not, so I’ll just say this is a great dress.
I won’t even try
to rhymeI must cry!
Your dress is the best
The stripes and the rest.
It must have taken less time to sew
the dress than to rhyme, this we all know.
Thank you for this treat.
Now I must beat a retreat
to my knitting room with care
to make a lace scarf if I dare.
Ugh, my rhyme sucked!
love love love the dress
love love love Dr Seuss
what a great way
to start my day
reading your rhyme
was really sublime!
Oh the places you’ll go!
Oh the heads you will turn!
For a similar dress
Many hearts will yearn!
Not only do you make a gorgeous dress inside and out…but then you write Dr. Seuss rhyme too! I’m done because you are just too fabulous for me!
Your dress is gorgeous, thanks for sharing.
Claudine, this dress is great. It’s so interesting how you separated the stripes with tulle at the bottom. And that lining, what a surprise. And then, to top it off with the poem? Superb!!
I’m too tired to even attempt verse, but I must confess
that I like your dress.
Impressive rhyme and even more impressive dress! I love the tiny Peter Pan collar with contrast binding.
Love it and your rhyme is just wonderful . You have inspired such creativity in so many of your readers . I just need to say that your blog is one of my favourites and often inspires daydreams about what I could be doing with my sizeable stash . Sometimes I follow through sometimes I dont but its always fun musing on the possibilities!!
Absolutely fantabulous dress. L-O-V-E it!
Eeeee! I don’t know what I like more, the poem or the dress. Okay, okay, the dress, but just by a smidge. 😉 I’m knee-deep in planning a Dr. Seuss themed baby shower for one of my best friends, so this couldn’t be a more apropos post.
You’ve done Dr. Seuss proud. And great dress, BTW.
It’s really a beautiful dress, Claudine. As usual! Hope you are working on something fun now too.
What a beautiful dress! That lining is so gorgeous that at first glance I thought it was another dress from the same pattern. Gorgeous!

No rhyme, sorry…
Beautiful things (and poetry too) Claudine! Miss seeing your things over at Stitcher’s Guild.
I am frankly agog
that I knew not your blog!
(Till now, that is)
