Shirt for Fall

This will be a useful shirt for fall. The fabric is a cotton cashmere blend that I got from Michael’s recently. It feels fantastic, but the cashmere takes a lot of the crispness away from the cotton, so some of the shirting details, like flat fell seams, were tricky. Then again, a more crisp fabric would not look as graceful where the pleats release. I used a pattern from a recent Burdastyle. Maybe May or June. I liked the dropped shoulder, the tucks at the waist to pull in the fullness, and the big collar with high stand. The buttons are clear green plastic from Mood.

Love the gathering from the pleats in the front & back- it’s such a great shape. 🙂

Gorgeous fabric. I love the buttons and the silhouette combined with the high collar and stand is uber cool. Love it!

Very nice shirt. I love the pleats and high collar. Does the cotton/cashmere blend feel as lovely as it sounds?

Oooh, it’s a lovely shirt. I’m glad you made this, since I traced the pattern a while ago and looking at just the line drawing made me second-guess my decision to sew it.

Cotton cashmere blend – sounds fabulous. The blouse is beautifully style and constructed.

From the front, that looks just like a Burda pattern I recently used (from May 2009). Your back looks pretty different than mine, though. Very nice job.

Love it! Beautifully executed. Great pattern too. I bet the fabric is yummy in person. I probably have that issue but you have to have a waistline. hehehehe

I always wonder how you make such beautiful garments with such a small stash. Each fabric seems to be perfectly suited to the pattern you have chosen. Reading your ‘blog is a true delight.
