Round about 3 1/2 years ago, I made a couple of silk trench coats for my kids. The 5-year-old that I made the larger one for is now 9, and I noticed last week that she is still wearing it. The sleeves are let down all the way so the seam binding is showing, and momentarily she will no longer be able to fit her shoulders into it. I realized that I still have some of the fabric, and it’s almost enough to make her a new one, if I piece it together and use another fabric for anything that won’t show. Above is one of the welt pockets.

awesome. Now I don’t feel so weird for the amazing coats I want to make my kids.
LOL! The closest I’ve gotten to this type of item for our kids was a flannel backed satin set of p.j.’s for the first born on his birthday this year. Haha! I’ll have to live vicariously through you until granddaughters start popping up. 😉 I can’t wait to see the new coat!
Does her younger sister fit into hers yet though?
Yes! My younger daughter will get the old one.
