I take back all those disparaging comments I’ve made about prints, on my blog and elsewhere. This silk charmeuse print totally blew me away when I saw it. I immediately thought of a 70’s style shirtdress. It looks like a border print, but the print actually runs from selvedge to selvedge, so I cut the dress on the cross grain to get the effect I wanted. There was a large amount of negative space on the fabric that did not contain print, so I used some of it to make a slip. I’m totally into the whole matching slip idea lately. It will be especially useful under a shirtdress, because they have a habit of coming unbuttoned.
The patterns are both from Burdastyle. The shirtdress is from 6/2012 and the slip is from 8/1999.
