As you are probably aware, the Northeastern US (where I live) is set for its first hurricane-force storm in a long while, or possibly ever. While my husband was busy procuring batteries, water, and canned goods, I oiled the treadle. We’re all ready.
Good luck to everyone and let’s hope the forecasts are all mistaken.

I hope so too, Claudine, but, wow how great to have a working sewing machine, just in case!!
Hope you and your family stay safe!
I’m not sure why I didn’t connect that you’re also in the storm’s path. Sometimes you read a blog but don’t really know where the blogger lives. Either way – it sounds like your family is already being as smart as possible. I hope all goes well. Prayers. Hugs. Will be waiting to hear.
Ha! It sounds like you have a similar distribution of labor as me and my husband!
Stay safe!!!
Ha! Wish I had done that – lost power at 1:30 this afternoon, before I’d gotten through all the sewing I’d planned for today. My treadle sits in an interior hallway, no windows at all, so even if I had gotten it into good working order I probably still wouldn’t have been able to see to sew. Hope you’re safe – my power came back on about an hour and a half ago, but I’m too spent to go sew now. Tomorrow’s another day – as long as we don’t get flooded by the rain that’s pummeling us now!
Here I am the next day. Lots of scary-sounding wind and rain, but we only lost power for a couple of minutes. We are very fortunate.
Good to hear you’re all well! I was watching the news and thinking of you, hoping the storm would skip your neighborhood.
