Here’s the beaded trim on the jacket opening edges. The trim is attached to cotton tape. I stitched the tape to the front and bottom edges of the jacket shell, then handstitched the lining to the tape. The original jacket that this project is based on has a dark colored lining, which I thought was a nice touch, so I chose dark brown cotton sateen for the lining. I put fur hooks and eyes in the center front in case I want to fasten it.
The shell and lining pieces are quilted together with a layer of cotton knit in between as batting. I sewed all of the vertical seams first, then did the quilting, then finished the edges with the beaded trim.
