Dressing in layers is my favorite thing about the weather getting colder. For a while, I was trying to do layers in summer, but it just gets too hot where I live for summer layers to work. So here I am, in winter, dressing in layers.
My first layer project is little red-and-white striped knit dress to wear as an underdress for a blue-and-white striped RTW dress that I’ve had for a while. Every time I wash the blue and white dress, it gets a little shorter, to the point where I’m not even comfortable wearing it with leggings. The red-and-white dress adds just enough length and some interest to the outfit.
The other winter layer dress is a large-scale brown plaid jumper sort of dress. The plaid is set slightly off-center, which feels more current to me than a perfectly centered plaid. I lined it with some orange print silk twill.
Both patterns came from old Burdastyle magazines.

I REALLY like the striped layered look! Perfect match.
I’d never have thought to put the plaid off-centre but it gives it a little twist. I like the stripy one too.
You have a fantastic way with prints. I really love the different coloured stripe-y layers, they look wonderful together
