Elastica!

.
For Halloween this year, my younger daughter wants to be Elastica from Zevo-3. What’s that you say? You’ve never heard of it? No one else has, either. She is possibly the only fan. If I let her, she will watch all 20 episodes in a row. Elastica’s super power is her amazing hair. It can pick things up and hurl them. It can be a propeller and lift her in the air. It can do other things that I would know about if I could stand to watch Zevo-3 for more than a couple of minutes at a time.

It is understandably difficult to procure a Zevo-3 costume for sale, which is just as well, since I had a great time making it. My favorite part is the wig. I took a pink wig from Five Below and threaded pink ribbon through the mesh, and sewed a yellow band to it. I took fabric that I originally bought to make skating costumes, which coincidentally is a similar color scheme to Elastica’s, and made the big E shirt and leggings. I bought the yellow gloves and added purple squares to them. According to my daughter, the squares are a vital part of the ensemble.

If you think this costume is esoteric, just wait until you see my older daughter’s costume. I want to write about it when I have a photo of her in it, probably on Monday.

Back view. There is a big E on the back, but you can't really see it in any of the pics I took.

A great look for me, no?

At times like this, aren’t you glad you sew! Your daughter is very happy with the costume. And there are probably others girls who wish they could be Elasica and can’t because their moms don’t sew!

I Love, love, love your daughter’s costume. You did an awesome job on it and she looks fantastic in it. I’ve never heard of Elastica before either. Thank you so much by the way for the comment you left me on the Queen of Hearts costume. Costume making can be fun. It was overall a good experience.

Very very cool. A hair-based superhero for little girls. Brilliant!
