For my first Mrs Stylebook project, I wanted something easy, but also something that I would actually wear. This pattern fit the bill. For a while, I have been enamoured with the double-skirt look. I mostly made this dress to wear under this dress. The skirt of the white dress will stick out a bit under the hem of the green dress. I can also imagine wearing this dress with a belt in the summertime. The pattern is from Mrs Stylebook summer 2009. I can’t tell if there is an issue number or anything because most of the text on the cover is in Japanese. The dress is on page 82.
The drafting part was interesting. I think I got it pretty much right, except for some mass confusion when drafting the back armscye on the sleeve. The calculations I made contradicted one another, and I could not reconcile them, so I fudged it. On a tailored garment, this would have been a disaster, but since the fit of this dress is very loose, you can’t tell there’s anything wrong there.
The fabric is a nice basketweave cotton shirting. I used all French seams.

I love the idea of wearing this under your green dress. Great idea!
Oh, I’m sure this will look lovely!
Simple, but pretty. It’s fun to see something you’ve made from MSB. I have that summer issue, but have yet to make something. Soon….
Claudine, I always like the outfits you make for yourself. Your sewing is beautiful.
This is a nice first project from Mrs. Stylebook, and you did your usual great job. I hope we get to see a photo of you in the layered dresses one fine day.
Thanks! Tune in to Me Made March for the photo.

[…] The pattern is from the Japanese magazine Mrs Stylebook, Spring 2011 style P7D. This is my second Mrs Stylebook project, and I think I may make more garments this way. I hope to get to the point where the difficulty drafting is on a par with the difficulty of tracing a Burdastyle pattern. I’m not there yet, but this dress went much more smoothly than this dress.
