Cold Weather Refashion

.

Refashioning is not normally my thing, but I’ve had this sweater for ages. It’s lovely, warm, thick, all wool, and all kinds of great things, but the tight scratchy wool neckline made me want to jump out of my skin every time I wore it. For a while, I was looking for a replacement for it, but every 100% wool fisherman sweater that I saw was prohibitively expensive. Sooo, I took some time to refashion it into a cardigan. I edged the neckline and front opening with green grosgrain, and added grosgrain trimmed welt pockets. I just kind of eyeballed the pocket placement. Unsurprisingly, they turned out uneven. I think I can live with it, though, to have a nice warm sweater to wear this cold winter.

Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks so much for reading my blog, and I hope Santa is good to you.

Good call: it’s cute and practical. Now you can wear it with a thin turtleneck or silk scarf around your neck. Merry Christmas!

    What a concept………this is beautiful!
I wish I had seen your post about a year ago when I gave away a beautiful fisherman’s knit sweater because it was too big for me. Just think of what I would be wearing now!

That is a really sharp cardigan. I now must look through sweaters that I don’t often wear and see what they might become. Thanks for the idea.

What a great idea. You’ve inspired me to do the same with several sweaters in my chest. BTW, the pockets look like a design feature.
